About the event

Magos Herrera and Paola Prestini will present the live Con Alma concert, which includes original works and selections from the Mexican and jazz songbook, at Palacio de Bellas Artes on March 26th. The concert celebrates a groundbreaking journey from creating a digital work viewed by audiences around the world, to a live theatrical version in Mexico City’s cultural center.

With the support of Mexico’s Ministry of Culture, UN Women and Morgan Stanley, the live performance will be directed by multimedia visionary Ashley Tata and projection designer Eamonn Farrell. The evening will include art by Kevork Mourad. This March, the public will been asked to share their sounds of reunion that symbolize our emergence from the isolation of the pandemic. These will be threaded into the live performances at Bellas Artes and in San Miguel de Allende. This process will help create a world-wide chorus, separated by geography and in different languages but joined by intention and spirit.

Paola Prestini and Mexico-based singer-songwriter Magos Herrera (plus a crew of musicians) used the lockdown to collaborate at a distance, and the result is a melancholy but uplifting quasi-cantata full of bird calls, phone calls, and calls across frozen borders.
